WHAT IS
OUR MISSION?
TO
MOBILIZE WOMEN TO ACT BOLDLY ON THEIR
FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST
·
Over the
centuries, women’s missionary societies
led the way in mission before
women were allowed to serve
in nontraditional roles.
·
In the
twentieth century, many of those same
women took the lead in opening the full
ministry of Christ’s church to women as
well as men.
·
In 1990,
Women of the ELCA helped lead the entire
ELCA in responding to women and children
in poverty.
·
In 1996,
we started connecting our global mission
education to the ELCA Companion Synod
Program. In 2004 we have global
ministry advocates connecting all
synodical women’s organizations to their
companion synods.
·
In
1999-2002, the theme “Live God’s
Justice” brought new focus and
commitment to women of the ELCA
ministries through emphases on
antiracism, spirituality, worship and
stewardship.
·
In
2002-2005, under the theme “Listen, God
Is Calling”, we are emphasizing ministry
with families, leadership, spirituality
and stewardship.
